Petit Planet is a single-player life sim with a social layer, not a shared-world MMO. You can play alone indefinitely, but the Galactic Bazaar and friend visits add a gentle multiplayer rhythm that makes the universe feel less empty.
Where multiplayer happens
There are two main social spaces:
- The Galactic Bazaar: a shared hub where players can meet, chat and play activities together.
- Friend planets: visits to another Planet Tender’s home, usually through the Yoohoo friend system.
The rest of the game is yours. Neighbors, farming, fishing and decorating are not dependent on another player being online.
Yoohoo: acquaintances, friends and close friends
Yoohoo is the social app. You add people by scanning a QR code or entering a UID. New contacts start as Acquaintances and appear in the Acquaintance Sky.
Interacting daily raises their Starlight. When Starlight is full, you can request to become Friends. Acquaintances who are ignored for a long period gradually fade and are removed from the sky. Friends stay on your list.
Friends can send private messages and interact. Enough interactions upgrade a Friend to a Close Friend, which unlocks a Shared Memory Space that records moments such as your first chat or first creature catch.
The Galactic Bazaar
The Bazaar is the social heart of the game. It is a shared space with a lighthouse-and-haven mood, designed for strangers, chance encounters and old friends.
Activities include:
- Mood Chair: sit with other players and share feelings.
- Music Corner: play maracas, ukulele, clarinet or drums alone or with up to four players.
- Help Hub: experienced players can answer questions from newer ones.
- The Stage: join Aleo for the Decadanza Dance-A-Thon, a four-player rhythm minigame.
- Magic Spin: a luck-based activity run by Civilla.
- Cafe Untamed: a social cafe space.
- Notice Board: talk to Goodman at the entrance for Bazaar information.
The Bazaar is not a combat hub or a trading auction house. It is a place to be around other people without pressure.
Visiting planets
When you visit a friend’s planet, you can see their home, decorations and neighbor setup. Visiting a Starmigo who has settled in the other starting galaxy is also the unlock path for that galaxy’s Starsea zone.
Think of planet visits as a low-stakes tour, not a co-op raid. There is no shared quest board or loot split. The value is inspiration, social presence and the occasional unlock.
Crossplay and platforms
Petit Planet is described as cross-platform and free-to-play. The confirmed platforms are PC, iOS and Android. Crossplay details in the beta were limited, but the game is being positioned as a shared ecosystem rather than three separate versions.
There is no confirmed Switch, PS5 or Xbox version, so crossplay with consoles is not a current question.
Is there competitive multiplayer?
Only in the playful sense. The Decadanza Dance-A-Thon gives players a score and Bazaar Jellies, and the Magic Spin is luck-based. There are no ranked ladders, no PvP combat and no competitive progression that affects your planet.
If you want a competitive social game, Petit Planet is the wrong fit. If you want a cozy game with optional company, it is exactly the right shape.
A first multiplayer session
- Finish the tutorial and unlock the Bazaar.
- Add one friend through Yoohoo.
- Visit the Bazaar and try the Music Corner.
- Sit at the Help Hub if you have a question.
- Visit a friend’s planet for decoration ideas.
- Add a second friend and compare Starmigos.
- Keep interactions daily if you want Close Friend status.
Social etiquette
- Do not expect a stranger to trade items; the beta had no open trading economy.
- Ask before touring a highly decorated home if the owner is present.
- Keep the Help Hub kind; new players are the point.
- Do not share account credentials or QR codes publicly.
- Remember that Friend and Close Friend status is a progression track, not a contract.
Multiplayer in Petit Planet is optional, small and warm. The Bazaar is worth visiting once for the music and the mood; the friend system is worth using if you want a reason to log in on a quiet day.
A note on spoilers & updates: This page is written for the global version of Petit Planet and may include pre-launch and beta details. Game systems can change before the Winter 2026 release. Facts are checked against the official site and the community-maintainedPetit Planet Wiki.
